My Spring Travel
So I’ve been out of the office now a few weeks for spring travel. It may sound unusual but we are already recruiting for our 2008 class! Our incoming Fall ’07 class looks great again and by this time of the year most seniors have a pretty good idea about were they will be in August. (If you’re a senior that’s still unsure ~ it’s ok!) I was out into most of northeastern Ohio for a few college fairs and high school visits and experienced what was hopefully our last snow fall of the year- while I was in Buffalo, NY. Here’s a pic of downtown city hall in Buffalo!

A Small Homage to the Ice Cream Machine!
It’s February~ which in our office means “spring visit month”! We host over 15 visit events throughout the month and meet with hundreds of prospective students & their families. Regardless of the day, we eat lunch on campus -which is always appreciated by our visitors. The new machine at Chandler Dining Hall rotates 4 different favors of Edy’s Ice Cream at one time! Our office would agree that there isn't a bad flavor of the stuff – with my favorite being the blueberry cobbler! They should consider taking the wheels off of this thing...I believe this fortress of joy deserves a little recognition!

My Office Plant Spiney

So I’ve had Spiney now for over a year and lately he’s looking more and more like just a stick! His life story is a lackluster one but still worth telling (while he is still standing at least). I heroically rescued him as an adolescent from our campus greenhouse in Fall ’05. The greenhouse was the first to go with the breaking of grounds for our new science center. So with winter approaching all the plants in the greenhouse were up for grabs & at the time Spiney was the pick of the litter! I mean I didn’t have to push anyone in the mud to get him, but he actually was a rather remarkable spiney tree and only about 1 ½ feet tall. So he was the “talk of the town” around the office and I was like the best zoo keeper ever! So that lasted until the following summer when he decided to lose all his spines one by one and then grow into a giant stick. Now he is over 3 foot tall and totally transformed into a different structure (dead) from when I got him. Still I’m rather defensive when people call him pitiful, ugly or a bean stalk! I don’t make fun of your kids so why do you gotta pick on my boy spiney just because he’s a little scrawny?
’07 is totally his comeback year, I know it!

Happy 1st Day of Classes ~ You'll Need a Coat!
Happy New Years & Cheers to January!
Well the Spring Semester is now "officially" underway & the students are back in action after a long month off. Our office has been in full stride since the 2nd of the month thou with spring transfer students and phone calls to newly accepted high school seniors. Yesterday was our annual Martin Luther King Jr. visit day. It was our first large group visit day of the spring and we easily had 100+ people on hand to receive an almost "standing room only" Clarion Experience!
Best of luck on your first week of classes~

Finals Week~
This past Friday we had our annual end of the semester-student worker party in the office which came after our last group visit day of 2006. Our admissions team puts together quite a feast each time we hold an office party. You can see the spread of homemade dishes that were brought along with of course the store-bought cookies I contributed for our meal! The women in our office are wonderful bakers and I get as excited as our student workers for their homemade treats! Since I’m the youngest one on staff and the only one not married, I rarely get homemade meals or dinners like this-except when I go to my parents for the holidays.

Luke and Nate are showing off there dipping skills on the chocolate fountain!

Amber, April, and Jess are just relaxing after their meals and enjoying those awesome Bilo cookies!
